Djordje Stojiljkovic, SAS — Cinematographer

Djordje Stojiljkovic (Đorđe Stojiljković), SAS, is a director of photography, director, producer and VFX artist based in Belgrade, Serbia. His work spans feature films, commercials, music videos and documentaries, combining a strong visual sensibility with a deep understanding of visual effects and contemporary filmmaking techniques.

He began his creative journey as a VFX artist before pursuing his passion for photography and cinema at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, University of Belgrade, where he graduated in cinematography. This foundation continues to shape his approach behind the camera, bringing lighting, composition and visual effects into the creative process from the earliest stages of a project.

His international cinematography credits include Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, alongside films such as Obraz (Tower of Strength), Izolacija (Isolation) and Sanctuary. Working across Europe, India and the Middle East, he has developed an adaptable approach to projects of different scales, from intimate character-driven stories to ambitious productions with extensive visual effects.

His work has been featured in American Cinematographer (May 2024 and March 2025) and British Cinematographer (March/April 2025), including coverage of Anima and Kalki 2898 AD. These features explore his approach to lighting, visual storytelling and the relationship between cinematography and visual effects.

Alongside his production work, Djordje shares his experience through masterclasses, industry talks and practical workshops. He has presented at IBC in Amsterdam and the Broadcast India Show in Mumbai, as well as professional events including CGA Belgrade. His sessions draw on practical production experience, exploring cinematic lighting, VFX integration and the creative and technical challenges of complex film projects.

A member of the Serbian Association of Cinematographers (SAS) and a Nanlux and Nanlite ambassador, he maintains an active interest in the evolving tools of filmmaking, including virtual production and LED environments. Across his work, his focus remains on creating expressive images that serve the story—using light, atmosphere and composition to shape how a scene feels.
